About Hammers and Hope
Hammers and Hope is Habitat for Humanity Sarasota’s annual fundraiser. This event showcases and celebrates the strides Habitat Sarasota is making to help Sarasota families. The event will be held at Hyatt Regency Sarasota on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 6pm. Invitations are scheduled for mailing in mid-Feburary.
About Habitat for Humanity Sarasota
Habitat for Humanity Sarasota offers the dream of homeownership to those who would otherwise not be able to afford a home of their own. New homeowners build the homes alongside hundreds of dedicated volunteers with donations from local churches, businesses, individuals, foundations and civic organizations. Habitat sells the homes at cost and finances the mortgages at zero interest. Habitat Sarasota is positioned to build 500 more homes, thereby revitalizing entire neighborhoods and strengthening the greater Sarasota community.

Habitat for Humanity Sarasota is very proud to be known a regional leader in using green building technology. Many other Habitat affiliates in the US are also “building green”. When Habitat’s Board of Directors made the decision to build more energy efficient homes, they set a new standard for Habitat Sarasota. While these houses are slightly more costly to build, in the long run they are much more affordable and sustainable.
