Renee Snyder, joined Habitat for Humanity Sarasota as Executive Director in March of 2010.
Renee has a wealth of experience in the areas of planning and development of workforce and affordable housing, community development, construction and project management, neighborhood planning and revitalization, grant writing and finance. Renee is a 26 year resident of our community.
After a successful banking career as Vice President of Community Development in Southwest, Fl for Nations Bank and Bank of America, after several bank mergers, Renee chose to take a different career path using her experiences gained in the banking arena.
From 1999-2010, prior to joining Habitat Sarasota, Renee worked independently as a Housing and Community Development Consultant. Renee’s work in the area of affordable housing and community development are visible in our community. Her achievements are many including certification of the first nonprofit affordable housing organization in south Sarasota County by the State of Florida. Renee’s work from 1999 – 2007 contributed significantly to the transformation of a low income area in Laurel where she was directly responsible for securing over two million dollars in grants/funding for the Laurel Community. .
She was also instrumental in the establishment of more than 50 community development and affordable housing projects that included roads, land acquisitions, demolition, rehabilitation and new construction.
Snyder attended the University of Kentucky and is a certified U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant writer. She received certification in Laws and Practices of Real Estate and Real Estate Contract Law from Manatee Community College in 2008, and holds credentials or has had specialized training in the areas of finance, accounting, management, diversity and professional fundraising.
Renee was recognized in 2010 by the National Association of professional women AS WOMEN OF THE YEAR for demonstrated excellence and dedication within her profession.
